Responsible for providing ongoing materials management support for the refining and/or logistics operations to which they are assigned, including terminals and pipeline inventories in various warehouse locations across the US as applicable. This position will also seek to identify and manage improvement projects such as asset recovery programs, consignment programs, vendor managed inventory, etc. to ensure high caliber customer service while optimizing overall operating costs. Key Responsibilities:

Job Description:

The Tank Engineer role reports directly to the Fixed Equipment Team Leader but takes day-to-day direction from the Infrastructure Upgrade Program (IUP) Team Leader.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

•             Develops and/or approves above ground storage tank repair plans, rerates, & modifications.

•             Reviews and approves 3rd party mechanical drawings for above ground storage tank (AST) repairs, alterations and new installations.

•             Serves as primary liaison between the Fixed Equipment Reliability Group and the Infrastructure Upgrade Program (IUP) group with regards to AST work.

•             Assures work scope requiring engineering approval be prioritized and reviewed in a timely manner.

•             Performs fitness for service evaluations per API or applicable industry guidelines/standards, including level 1 & 2 evaluations per API-570.

•             Performs bolted joint torque calculations and select gaskets for planning.

•             Provides technical assistance in monitoring repair activities, including construction, non-destructive examination, welding and coatings.

•             Works closely with Tank Inspector(s) to troubleshoot issues with AST’s, including Spheres, and reviews Inspection & Testing Plans for repairs or new installations.

•             Leads the development of technical assessment packages for hot taps, stopples, welding on live equipment, etc., associated with above ground storage tanks.

 

Requirements:

•             This position requires:  BS Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering

•             Minimum of 7 years of experience in API storage tank design, repairs and alterations.

•             Proficiency with API, EPA and TCEQ specifications, standards, and recommended practices  as they relate to above-ground storage tanks.

Piping Designer (04/13/2017)

This person will be complementing a team of two pipe designers.

Position requires sound comprehensive knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawing, CAD/graphics, computer model work, and reading of drawings. The piping designer provides drawings for their own designs and produces sketches to incorporate in drawings by drafters. The Piping Designer also researches codes and contacts code officials when questions arise. Other duties include researching design options and shop drawings, doing calculations, working on specifications, graphs, charts cost estimates and bills of materials. 

**Producing ISOs using FlexCAD and PIDs, etc. with AutoCAD.
